...It's a great little Bento Box. I've been using daily for about three weeks now and here is what I have to say about it:
The bottom tier can hold plenty of rice, or about one small sliced apple. The top comes with a very tight fitting plastic lid, although the one day I tried packing soup in it, it did dribble a little; lesson learned, it can definitely hold in sauces, but filling the compartment entirely with liquid is pushing it. Oh, that and the lid is prone to staining; I had pasta with tomato sauce and it is now an ever-so-light shade of orange-red. As far as its functional uses, these are the only two problems I've had with it thus far.
Aesthetically, it's pleasing... but the thing that bothered me was that the owls were only partially covered with a nice thick layer of varnish. The rest of them seemed exposed in comparison, and it seemed that there was nothing protecting the three branches and the glitter on the moon and stars. I ended up going to the craft store and purchased a polyurethane finish, and "finished" it. I'm sure the design would have been fine without me doing so; I just didn't want to take any risks. I also didn't want to go through the hassle or returning it/buying a different box.
Finally, it's expensive for what it is. I purchased this box at 30$, and have seen boxes made by Kotobuki of similar sizes/designs for roughly half that price. I paid the extra 15$ because I liked the overall look of this box best, and didn't want to spend hours digging about on the interwebs trying to find one I liked as much for less.
Minus one star for the unfinished look and minus one more star for the high price tag.
