(More customer reviews)I purchased the Go Green Lunch Box set for my son's first year of kindergarten. I was drawn to this lunch box for a number of reasons: the insulated case, the metal 'juice' container, the separate sealed compartments, and the 'top rack dishwasher safe'. He was drawn to it because of the cool cars. When it came in the mail, we were both initially very pleased. The only thing that I was concerned about was whether or not he could close the lid without help. One of the focuses in kindergarten (aside from abc's and 123's) is to foster independence. The 4 click and lock sides could have presented a bit of a challenge, so we practiced a few times before the first day of school just be sure he was comfortable AND to be sure he wouldn't come home with a mess in his bag. We practiced, we were compfortable and super excited that there would be no plastic baggies or juice boxes mucking up the planet from our house.
Then, I ran it threw the dish washer. I placed it on the top rack, because it was deemed 'safe' to do so by the manufacturer. To my dismay, when it came out, it warped just enough to make closing the lid a challenge for me. If it weren't for the 'lock/unlock' nob on the face of the lid, the lunch box would have been completely unusable. I'm able to close all 4 sides of the lid, and my son can open the box, but to close it after lunch, he uses the 'lock' nob so that it doesn't open inside the case.
As soon as I saw that the box was warped, I sent a letter to the manufacturer. It's now October, and there's yet to be a response.
While we still use the box (it is a nice product when it wasn't warped), I won't order from the manufacturer again. And if you choose to order this lunch box, I recommend hand washing.
